About Us
In our lab, we are studying the mechanisms behind the loss of tissue homeostasis throughout an organism’s life course, with a specific focus on age-related tissue changes. In developed countries, the increasing proportion of elderly people has become a social issue. With no effective solutions currently available, we are at a critical point. One potential strategy is to extend healthy life expectancy. To achieve this, we have to deepen our understanding of age-related changes and advance our research in this field. Our team is tackling the research of age-related changes by examining them at the cellular and tissue levels. We use a variety of animal tissues, including those from mice, humans, and even non-human primates. Additionally, we are working on the development of new anti-aging drugs and novel anti-aging animal models.
The Ichijo Laboratory is looking for motivated students (master’s and doctoral level), post-doctoral fellows, and collaborators worldwide. If you are interested in pursuing research with us, please do not hesitate to contact us.
